Ice is ideally used immediately after an acute injury
e.g. knocks, sprains, and bruises where there is some bleeding in underlying soft tissue, reduce muscle spasm, reduce pain by numbing the area and limit the effects of swelling.
Always ensure a damp layer of fabric is between the boot and the horse'e leg
Place the boots in a freezer for at least 2 hours
Do not apply to broken skin or where there is infection
Always ensure the boots are comfortable for the horse and do not apply for more than 20 minutes at a time.
